My Reading Habits

Hello bookworms! I wanted to do this Reading Habits tag that was created by TheBookJazz that I found online. I think it will be a great way for you all to get to know me!

  1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

No, I don’t. When I’m at home, I’ll read wherever is comfortable: the couch, my bed, the kitchen table. Lately I’ve been thinking about getting a nice, big armchair just for reading.

  1. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Random pieces of paper! I frequently use receipts as bookmarks, and honestly whatever I have lying next to me. I’m trying to be better about using actual bookmarks though as there are so many cute ones!

  1. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?

I’m able to stop reading anywhere in the book, even in the middle of a sentence, unless the book really truly has me hooked.

  1. Do you eat or drink while reading?

Yes! When I was younger, I would read books while I ate breakfast before school. That habit has since switched to scrolling on social media instead, but I’m trying to bring back reading. I’ve definitely splashed a couple drops of ramen on a few pages before.

  1. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

I can handle music or someone else watching TV in the background while I read. I usually read a book while my boyfriend is playing his video games, so noise is not a big deal to me.

  1. One book at a time or several at once?

Several at once. Currently in the middle of who knows how many books, but actively reading three. I wish I could just do one book at a time, but I’m a mood reader so if I’m not in the mood for something, I’ll pick something else up.

  1. Reading at home or everywhere?

I can read anywhere, but my preference is at home because it’s much more comfortable with fewer distractions. I typically read at home or at work.

  1. Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Silently! I’ve never been the type to read out loud, and being asked to read aloud in school is one of my biggest fears. Kidding, but I definitely don’t prefer it.

  1. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

Not really. In middle school, one of my friends told me she always read the last page of any book she reads. At first, I thought it was weird, but I started doing it too out of curiosity. I don’t really do this anymore, but if I become curious enough, I will.

  1. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Keeping it like new, especially with paperbacks! I hate to see a cracked spine, but I understand sometimes it can’t be avoided.

  1. Do you write in your books?

Sometimes! I usually only write in books if it’s for school. If I really like an author’s prose, I may highlight phrases I like, but I’ve recently adopted the habit of keeping Notion open on my laptop next to me while I read so I can catch any quotes I like.

So that’s all the questions! What are your personal reading habits? Do you share any habits with me or are you completely different? Let me know! 🙂

All the love,
